KOREA AIKIDO UNION
How We Practice
At Aikido Samsungdang, we believe that “first, you should break a sweat. Understand it with your mind, but express it through your body.”
Our training centers on fundamentals and kata. Rather than simply understanding techniques through explanation, we learn through repeated movement and physical practice.
We focus on posture, distance and ma-ai, timing, and connection with a partner—not just the outward form of a technique.
Training involves enough movement to naturally work up a sweat, with an overall intensity similar to moderate-intensity interval exercise.
At the same time, we do not push people simply for the sake of intensity. Safety comes first, and we do not require forced breakfalls or exaggerated demonstrations.
Each person builds accurate movement through repetition at their own level, so that what they understand can be expressed through the body.
